ALEXROSSI ft Inès Olympe Mercadal – JE TE PRENDS
Our first release of the year is the amazing digital single JE TE PRENDS from our friend ALEXROSSI.
Former Babies, Moll Ball (AKA Mollie “boom tap” Reep) and Shawna England aren’t musicians. They aren’t trained on their instruments, they’ve listened to way too much punk rock, drank too many beers and have meltdowns on the weekly. These character flaws are what inspires their music. If it weren’t for pesky brothers and shithead boyfriends the world would have a lot less music in it. They write cliché songs that describe what life is like whether you’re a 14 year old girl or a 65 year old man.
Shawna whams the guitar and belts out screeching melodies, while Mollie hits the drums with sticks at a level just below barely audible. Regardless of all the adversity and strife that they have had to overcome, Moll Ball and Shawna continue to rock on. They will probably do so until the day that they die. Oh yeah, they’re supposed to say something in this “bio” about how they are from the Bay Area.
Benjamin Schoos is a producer and songwriter based in Belgium who some of you may also know as Miam Monster Miam, radio and Tv presenter and Freaksville Records label-dude. He’s been making mixes/music since the late 90s and has become the go-to garage-pop auteur of Brussels. He’s also been known to drop a Bleeding Gold artist or two on his podcasts – Marc Desse & ALEXROSSI. He’s planning for a new full-length album release in 2012 on his Freaksville label, but also has this rad cassette out from our friends at CALI Records. Small world, indeed!
These two tracks are featured on the cassette along with bonus material, all digi-downloadable with purchase. Get on it! These will sell out.
With Italian DNA and an upbringing in the southwest of France, Alex Rossi began working as a rock club Dj in the late 80s, eventually gaining his own radio show influenced by British Pop (TV Personalities, The Smiths, Field Mice) and FrenchPop (Taxi Girl, Elli and Jacno, Les fils de joie.) In 1998 Alex signed with Mercury France for a handful of singles (“Le Coeur du monde”, “Annabelle et Henri”), also writing many songs for other French singers such as Dick Rivers. In 2004 he friended journalist and writer Arnaud Viviant with whom he founded the “Situ-punk” band BALLU. Monsieur Rossi was spotted by Gonzaï magazine sometime in 2007 and was quickly offered the chance to perform a monthly residency alongside Alister ou Dondolo (Members of Young Michelin.) Since 2009 he has worked with composer Dominique Pascaud under the collective name ALEXROSSI, releasing the 5-track EP MY LIFE IS A FUCKING DEMO which includes a duet with ex-FrenchPop star Graziella De Michele.
[roughly – “Words that hit, a guitar riff that will fit in the head and not come out. Alex Rossi is somewhere between Daniel Darc and Patrick Coutin. And “Chair et canon” is the grand song everyone has expected from him.”]
MY LIFE IS A FUCKING DEMO will be re-released digitally by Bleeding Gold on Dec. 12th, including an additional track in a rearranged track order as we build up for the release of the ”Je te prends” 7″ single, a duet with French shoe-designer Inès Olympe Mercadal (Feb. ’12) and the full length album DANS LA PEAU DE JOHN KENNEDY TOOLE later this spring.
“Quoi qu’il arrive, nous resterons des chansons,” dixit Alex

This one is different. I’d even go so far as to say it is special. Spoken word, organ drones, surreal storytelling. Something about the tracks on The Knife draw you in, make you want to hear them again, just to make sure you heard what you thought you heard. That is when the subtle melodies swagger into your subconcious, loitering for days. This one needs to be heard on your turntable, the mastering is especially warm on these 70 gram vinyl copies.
David Warren’s debut single The Knife is available on 2 choices of colored vinyl; Swamp Green [ed.100] or Hefeweizen [ed.150].

Led by Momo the sympathic but laconic ferryman, taking their instrument as others take their weapons, the two friends begin the chase…
