Mmdelai is an electronic music project by Annemarie Duff. This is a second EP almost two years after the first release. Still ethereal electronica, the sound includes deep beats, shimmery synth hooks and washy vocal layers. The EP has a sound that ranges from shoe-gaze to trip hop to something like french pop. It was produced and recorded in Christchuch, New Zealand and Melbourne, Australia.

Up-coming projects include work with D’Opus (AUS), Miniatures, O’lovely (NZ), Nancy Wilson and time lapse film maker Stefan Lush.

Mmdelai began in 2010 with Annemarie tinkering in software to write songs, initially the live set up involved her singing over backing tracks and then with DJ Cutloose. Later that year, a friend gathered some Christchurch musicians together to form a live band for the tracks. Since then Mmdelai has been live with band; the rotating line-up currently featuring Annemarie Duff (Miniatures), Josh Black (Sleepy Age), Jess Hix (NYBBNZ) and Danny Webster (Radar Angel). With a move to Melbourne ahead for Annemarie, the live set up will change again.
This EP has been over a year in the making, inspired by general rantings about the Universe and recorded in various places around Christchurch/Dunedin. It tends toward the darker side of electronica with influences including U.N.K.L.E., Bonobo and Quantic.
