“So here I was, recording my stoned mate with a Sontronics STC-2 condenser mic in my family’s attic in the UK – and all we wanted was a nice vintage tone on the guitar and a vocal hook to build on.”
Two weeks and 23 bowls of Mild Curry Supernoodles later we had finished recording our first EP, entitled ‘A Life of Tragic Parties’.
Finding inspiration in the good-time sounds of the 60s and 70s – S’s are a Manchester-based duo in their early twenties, who loosely define themselves as ‘experimental pop-stars’. Like Elton John’s bastard sons – they send trans-atlantic signals to their brothers and sisters in the states, along with trans-channel signals directly to their freres and soeurs in Europe.
Fans of The Strokes, David Bowie, Best Coast and The Beatles should prepare themselves for a 2012 release that will soothe and arouse them into an indie-induced coma.
‘A Life of Tragic Parties’ showcases the lo-fi talent of two lo-fi young men.
