Another of our favorite labels is taking over our Guest Mix feature. Roger Preston of Bleeding Gold Records gives you a little background on the seriously rad label below. You’ll also find a tracklist and 8tracks ready to stream for you below too!

Bleeding Gold Records is a San Diego, California-based label focusing mostly on vinyl and digital releases from an international roster of new and emerging acts, such as Just Handshakes (Leeds,UK), The Sweets (Winston-Salem, North Carolina) and Os Drogons (Chambéry, France). Our bands vary in genre from indie pop, lo-fi, folk to shoegaze and beyond. The most recent release from Space Heat (San Diego, CA) signals a shift in focus on local talent as well as plans to collaborate with their label collective Field Trips, which will feature 5 separate projects all sharing members, co-released with Bleeding Gold. MOSES GOLD :: Powder and Blood (Official Video)

If ‘enchantingly bleak’ was a thing, then we’d probably select Moses Gold as it’s most pre-eminent exponent. He is very much an artist worth getting to know.” -The 405

Moses Gold is the creative vision of Manchester’s Phill Young. Formed in 2013 after the dissolution of his previous project, the critically acclaimed Christian AIDS/Stay+, Young re-emerged with some of the most extraordinarily heart-rending and beautiful music that the city has ever heard. Working with producer Ben Pearson (Espher) the wounded baritone of Young’s voice glows against a sparkling electronic backdrop. Vivid and visceral, Young’s expression of loneliness and regret is littered with melancholy and tiny glimpses of hope. Confrontational, but more emotionally than physically, he’s been described as “Ian Curtis trapped in a 21st century nightmare.”

Debut single ‘Paradise Lost’ features a collaboration with former bandmate and friend London based producer Stay Positive (Black Butter, RAMP, OWSLA) Young who has previously spoken with unerring honesty about his  long-term battle with depression, wants to create music people“can relate to and respond to. Not enough singers do that.”  After leaving his previous band it was vital for Young to continue to make music to challenge himself and his audience. Enter Moses Gold, meaning “Prophet of Greed” whose début single ‘Paradise Lost’ is a huge statement of intent and the first step in achieving the ambitious goal Young has set himself “to write an album as beautiful as ‘Kid A’ or as honest as ‘Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space’. ‘Paradise Lost’  is released March 10th on limited edition 12″ vinyl.
