SPACE HEAT have premiered a new video for the song ‘Place Inside‘ – the closing track of their debut EP “Happy Birthday“. Directed by Jason Low using Super 8 film during a roadtrip up the West Coast, the video is a kaleidoscope of visuals from San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Francisco and Marin County, featuring the dreamy NightPop sounds of the San Diego-based band.
The EP has been newly-released on fancy cassette format as a co-release between Bleeding Gold Records and Fields Trips, a new San Diego-based collective of like-minded artists releasing local music from the many associated band members and bands. There will be a Cassette Release Party on Tuesday September 23rd at Soda Bar [3615 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92104]…come out to say ‘Hi’ and purchase a copy of the tape from the band! Another of our favorite labels is taking over our Guest Mix feature. Roger Preston of Bleeding Gold Records gives you a little background on the seriously rad label below. You’ll also find a tracklist and 8tracks ready to stream for you below too!
Bleeding Gold Records is a San Diego, California-based label focusing mostly on vinyl and digital releases from an international roster of new and emerging acts, such as Just Handshakes (Leeds,UK), The Sweets (Winston-Salem, North Carolina) and Os Drogons (Chambéry, France). Our bands vary in genre from indie pop, lo-fi, folk to shoegaze and beyond. The most recent release from Space Heat (San Diego, CA) signals a shift in focus on local talent as well as plans to collaborate with their label collective Field Trips, which will feature 5 separate projects all sharing members, co-released with Bleeding Gold. Along with these projects there will be the debut full-length 12″ from Tape Waves

Space Heat’s dreamy take on indie (night)pop is filled with way-old honey and smoke and things you forgot that you forgot until you remembered them. Feelings not all that then, and not all that now… This is not what you listen to sprawled out on the beach, bathed in sun and salt. This is what you listen to driving past the endlessly black shape of the ocean in the night, down some nameless freeway toward something new. What you listen to to keep warm.
