Songs For Walter aka Laurie Hulme is back with another slice of folk pop, this time armed with a banjo and a story about his Grandfathers philosophy, communism and constitutional stance about Laurie changing his university course to politics.
The title is from the philosopher: Thomas Hobbe’s ‘Leviathan’ of which Laurie studied during his time at university. Hobbes says that ungoverned man would be constantly at war because of Competition, Diffidence and Glory. This is a comprehensible story about family life and how it can affect your studies, read into it as much as like.

BG068 | Beauty / Duty
Posted in Band Update, Music with tags 4-track, BG068, BGR, Cassette, Golden Glow, Lo-Fi, London, Manchester, Pay What You Want, Uk on January 8, 2014 by bleedinggoldGolden Glow, the solo project of singer-songwriter Pierre Hall, is set to release a new 6-track EP, ‘Beauty / Duty’ on 27th January via Bleeding Gold Records, with a sound that echoes the laid-back, idyllic melodies of Real Estate and Wild Nothing. After some full band recording sessions with an outside producer, Pierre decided the sound was becoming almost too clinical and lost some of the magic that comes with the limitations of using more basic equipment. Pierre decided to abort the sessions and go back to the four-track, the result being the new 6-track EP, ‘Beauty / Duty’, influenced by Felt, New Order, Arthur Russell, Velvet Underground, The Cure, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
BG013 | FORMER BABIES
Posted in Band Update, Music with tags BandCamp, BG013, BGR, Former Babies, Free Download, Lo-Fi on December 29, 2011 by bleedinggoldFree download. Happy New Year!
Former Babies, Moll Ball (AKA Mollie “boom tap” Reep) and Shawna England aren’t musicians. They aren’t trained on their instruments, they’ve listened to way too much punk rock, drank too many beers and have meltdowns on the weekly. These character flaws are what inspires their music. If it weren’t for pesky brothers and shithead boyfriends the world would have a lot less music in it. They write cliché songs that describe what life is like whether you’re a 14 year old girl or a 65 year old man.
Shawna whams the guitar and belts out screeching melodies, while Mollie hits the drums with sticks at a level just below barely audible. Regardless of all the adversity and strife that they have had to overcome, Moll Ball and Shawna continue to rock on. They will probably do so until the day that they die. Oh yeah, they’re supposed to say something in this “bio” about how they are from the Bay Area.
