A little something about the upcoming Lost Trail 12″, due out Friday September 4th…

Killer Ponytail

Lost-TrailLet’s face it, sometimes it can be all too easy to miss the history around you. If you’re walking through your home town or visiting somewhere entirely new, the subtle elements of past voices are capable of being heard, if only you listen hard enough. This is a thought that clearly hasn’t escaped North Carolina duo Lost Trail.

The duo, consisting of matrimonially entwined Zach and Denny Corsa, specialise in using analogue equipment, tape loops and found sounds to create their music, and the results are less like songs and more like expansive sonic tales.

The band’s forthcoming 12” is called A Foreground And A Backdrop (set for release on 4th September on Bleeding Gold Records) and the very title suggests the fact that Lost Trail are capable of seeing the world around them in multi-dimensional ways. Something that more than bares out in their new track ‘All Saints’…

Lost Trail is the ambient/dronegaze/experimental noise project of husband-and-wife duo Zachary Corsa and Denny Wilkerson Corsa. Based in the mysterious small city of Burlington, North Carolina, The Corsas utilize lo-fi and obsolete recording technology in their music, aiming to capture a sense of atmosphere and landscape in both man-made and wild environments. Working primarily with second-hand analog equipment, their work is a vivid patchwork collage of damaged cassette loops, field recordings, primitive percussion, layers of ethereal guitar drones, wailing feedback and static, and skeletal traces of antique piano and organ. The themes of Lost Trail’s work often include a sense of the otherworldly or supernatural, as well as strong ties to nature, human calamity, and a fascination with the concept of passionate belief systems. The songs themselves are raw, broken, minimalist, imperfect, emotionally resounding and chaotically unpredictable, all composed in the spirit of reckless, heedless improvisation.

We’ve got a rad new 5-track EP from UK-based Oh Well, Goodbye.

For its simplistic approach,  ‘BG092′ is a cathartic collection of songs…a deep, embittered tone runs throughout, as beautiful as it is ugly. At times the nonchalant display masks the chaos and vulnerability underneath.

Download the EP here and snap an ultra-limited cassette tape from Hail Hail Records in the UK here.

Also, we have a new distributor-partner in the US and they have some of the Bleeding Gold releases on the cheap included in their already-large-and-growing stock of small indie label 7″s and 10″s! Check out Yawn Records here.
