Aunt Sis

Aunt Sis started as the bedroom recording project of Justin Morris, utilizing live vocal looping and melodic guitar progressions to imply something larger. Based in Asheville, North Carolina, Aunt Sis now continues this aesthetic as an amplified three piece, with fellow Bleeding Gold members Will Flaugher of Petey, and Justin Hrabovsky of The Sweets. Below you will find a new song from the band in preparation for a full EP later this year.

BG078 | Happy Birthday

Posted in Band Update, Music with tags , , , , , , on June 8, 2014 by bleedinggold

Space Heat’s dreamy take on indie (night)pop is filled with way-old honey and smoke and things you forgot that you forgot until you remembered them. Feelings not all that then, and not all that now… This is not what you listen to sprawled out on the beach, bathed in sun and salt. This is what you listen to driving past the endlessly black shape of the ocean in the night, down some nameless freeway toward something new. What you listen to to keep warm.

BG075 | Cult & Truth

CnT

With the release of the latest Sutja Gutierrez 12″ vinyl LP, we offer up this quick chat we had with the artist about the new album and video….

  1. Where is Sutja from and why does he make music?

SG: I was born in Tarragona (Spain) and grew up in Castellón, in a small village located in the mediterranean coast.
I have lived in different cities throughout my life, till I’ve arrived to my current city of residence in Tenerife.
I make music for having fun, breaking away and enjoying one of my favourite ways of freedom of speech.
I consider myself a very active and creative person, that’s why I’m constantly working and thinking about new ways of making music.
  1. Why is the new album titled “Cult & Truth”?

SG: The album is titled “Cult & Truth” because of the curiosity I’ve always had for the truth behind the different cults. In this album I’ve mixed cult, truth and some of my personal life, telling my own vision of truth and life, trying to make you understand what I have felt over all these years.
  1. You often tweet or post cryptic yet uplifting quotes (ex: “Please Smile”, “No War” or “If today were the last day of your life, would you want to do what you are about to do today?”). Can you explain your outlook on life?

SG: Well, I think life is about simplicity, breathe and create. It’s all about fly without boots and run without wings. We are beautiful/simple human beings and intelligent animals, we can do it better, i’m sure of that. it’s all in our minds.
  1. The video for “El Magico (feat AFFKT)” has been very successful. Can you explain the story behind the video?

SG: I am very happy with the reception of the album and also very lucky for being surrounded by wonderful artists and being able to work with them. People like Carlos Kometzier, Andrea Fg and Elisa Lastres have made this video possible. The story talks about “El Magico”, a character who arrives to an unknown world. While he is exploring this new land, he meets one of its residents who shows him the way we all are looking for: the happiness.
  1. What is next for Sutja?
SG: Enjoying, learning and never stop growing, believing, creating and loving.

MOSES GOLD :: Powder and Blood (Official Video)

If ‘enchantingly bleak’ was a thing, then we’d probably select Moses Gold as it’s most pre-eminent exponent. He is very much an artist worth getting to know.” -The 405

Night Drippers Texture 1

Os Drongos NightPhoto3

Less than five days to record and a little bit more than thirteen months to reach the light of an ear. That is a good example to explain what a night dripper is. An agent who can change you. Something that set you, the problems you need to become the person you are. You just decide to see them or not. But Night Drippers are everywhere. They can be everything, even you.
What you could hear on this album: highly-electric residual shadows passing through worlds made of different tones. The sounds here are influenced by such artists and philosophers as Pollock or Héraclite, invoking the great days of Diane.

Available on LIMITED EDITION Compact Disc and digitally at BandCamp and iTunes.

The first one, Ophelie, was engaged.
The second one, Mary, was married.
Both of them had a terrible destiny.
That’s what we tell in our two songs “Ophelie” and “Judgment Day”.

Blanche as a Name are Sébastien and Bénédicte.
The writer is Bénédicte.

Moses Gold, Salford 12/10/12

Moses Gold is the creative vision of Manchester’s Phill Young. Formed in 2013 after the dissolution of his previous project, the critically acclaimed Christian AIDS/Stay+, Young re-emerged with some of the most extraordinarily heart-rending and beautiful music that the city has ever heard. Working with producer Ben Pearson (Espher) the wounded baritone of Young’s voice glows against a sparkling electronic backdrop. Vivid and visceral, Young’s expression of loneliness and regret is littered with melancholy and tiny glimpses of hope. Confrontational, but more emotionally than physically, he’s been described as “Ian Curtis trapped in a 21st century nightmare.”

Debut single ‘Paradise Lost’ features a collaboration with former bandmate and friend London based producer Stay Positive (Black Butter, RAMP, OWSLA) Young who has previously spoken with unerring honesty about his  long-term battle with depression, wants to create music people“can relate to and respond to. Not enough singers do that.”  After leaving his previous band it was vital for Young to continue to make music to challenge himself and his audience. Enter Moses Gold, meaning “Prophet of Greed” whose début single ‘Paradise Lost’ is a huge statement of intent and the first step in achieving the ambitious goal Young has set himself “to write an album as beautiful as ‘Kid A’ or as honest as ‘Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space’. ‘Paradise Lost’  is released March 10th on limited edition 12″ vinyl.

BG071 // 10 Feb 2014

Songs For Walter aka Laurie Hulme is back with another slice of folk pop, this time armed with a banjo and a story about his Grandfathers philosophy, communism and constitutional stance about Laurie changing his university course to politics.

The title is from the philosopher: Thomas Hobbe’s ‘Leviathan’ of which Laurie studied during his time at university. Hobbes says that ungoverned man would be constantly at war because of Competition, Diffidence and Glory. This is a comprehensible story about family life and how it can affect your studies, read into it as much as like.

BG072 // 10 Feb 2014
