The second full-length release from South Wales’ HEHFU on Bleeding Gold. This time we find Bradley writing songs about the demise of the relationship that was the theme of the first album, Music For My Broken Ears. The contrast shows in the rawer sound; more lo-fi, if that is even possible, and more heart-on-his-sleeve than ever. We hope you enjoy this collection of relationship exorcisms as much as we do.

Sex Dream is the solo project of San Francisco Bay Area musician, Benjamin W. Jameson.  Benjamin’s debut record attempts to widen the relationship between bass, guitar, and drums by employing restraint and independence between the instruments.  Benjamin’s influence comes from the sonic boundaries around an electric guitar as well as the understated power of an interesting bass-line.  He currently works out of Martinez and Oakland, CA.

France’s Blanche As A Name present some Americana-tinged pop from their debut EP Ravens, featuring an exclusive 3rd track available only with the purchase of the Frost single. Limited edition half-n-half clear and blue vinyl 7″ single in a gorgeous matte cover.

B-side ‘Tu Sais’ kicks up the gears a bit. Both feature on the first picture disc in the BGR discography, and it turned out quite beautifully.

Sound quality is not what this is about – it is an art piece, lovingly created by the band and a lathe-cutting friend from Washington. Features exclusive B-side “I Don’t Mind”, not featured on the download. Every piece is unique.

Posted in Band Update, Music with tags , , , , , , , , on June 27, 2012 by bleedinggold

This new Mmdelai EP might remind you of Portishead, Quantic or U.N.K.L.E. – not the usual suspects of Bleeding Gold inspirations. This one’s got a spacier/dancier feel. You might recognize the vocals – a one Annemarie Duff of BGR newcomers Miniatures. Annemarie has recently made a move from her native New Zealand and hopped shores to Melbourne, Australia, seeking new inspiration from a new city. A new band will be formed and plans for a new EP are in the works. For now you can enjoy a free download of the EP or grab a copy on 1989’s favorite format – the cassette tape. Buy cassette here.

Dark Fruit

Dark Fruit Cover Art

In a vanguard effort to introduce their debut LP, Alligator Indian chose the tune “Dark Fruit” to single-handedly represent the album. Balancing lyrics that deal with hope, loss, death, Florida wildfires, and of course vampires, “Dark Fruit” twists through haunting ivory interplay between Mister Church’s and Miss Bubble’s keys before erupting in tribal triumph and percussive payoff. To further articulate the audio, analogue auteur The Cyclist and pop patron Heart Island reimaginatively mixed, or “remixed,” the song. The sparse drone of The Cyclist’s version cuddles alongside Heart Island’s saccharine dance, creating a trio of immersive and entertaining tracks built around one unit of song.
