SPACE HEAT have premiered a new video for the song ‘Place Inside‘ – the closing track of their debut EP “Happy Birthday“. Directed by Jason Low using Super 8 film during a roadtrip up the West Coast, the video is a kaleidoscope of visuals from San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Francisco and Marin County, featuring the dreamy NightPop sounds of the San Diego-based band.

The EP has been newly-released on fancy cassette format as a co-release between Bleeding Gold Records and Fields Trips, a new San Diego-based collective of like-minded artists releasing local music from the many associated band members and bands. There will be a Cassette Release Party on Tuesday September 23rd at Soda Bar [3615 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92104]…come out to say ‘Hi’ and purchase a copy of the tape from the band! Those not in San Diego can order a cassette here (see below for more stores.)

Album Stream: FURROW – ‘West Felton’

Hear the new FURROW full-length exclusively at KILLER PONYTAIL

Killer Ponytail

West Felton packshotjpegTo say that Furrow have been busy recently would be a massive understatement. Between releasing a slew of singles and EPs, as well as tearing up stages with their gnarly brand of cerebral noise across the UK, continental Europe and Japan, Richard Cartwright and Thom Snell have also managed to find the time to write and record their first full length album. And we are excited beyond words (well, apart from the ones you’re reading here) to give you the opportunity to hear the whole album ahead of its release on 1st September.

The album, named after the band’s rural home of West Felton, situated near the Welsh border, might not be quite what you’d expect from two guys hailing from a sleepy English village. West Felton is a powerhouse of towering noise pop built on Cartwright’s relentlessly pounding drums and Snell’s ear ripping bass riffs, all of which coalesce to forge a collection of songs that…

Read a track-by-track written by the band on Killer Ponytail….

Killer Ponytail

tape waves_2Maybe it’s something to do with the increased vitamin D exposure on the South East coast of the US, but Carolina based husband and wife duo Tape Waves have a knack for distilling the sun drenched vibes of their home city into perfect nuggets of dream pop. After creating plenty of buzz with the release of their debut EP last year, Kim and Jarod Weldin are all set to amp up everyone’s summer with their debut album Let You Go.

We were proud to premiere the album track ‘Looking Around’ a few weeks ago and now we’ve got a bigger treat for you lucky people… you can now stream Let You Go in full right here!

Let You Go is a rush of cool coastal breezes and splashes of sunshine delivered through interweaving, shimmering guitars and Kim’s breathy vocals beckoning you onto the beach. But, you don’t have to rely…

Premiere: Tape Waves – ‘Looking Around’

new Tape Waves premiere on Killer Ponytail….

Killer Ponytail

tape waves field shotIf there’s one word that sums up South Carolina duo Tape Waves, it’s definitely ‘vibes’. And those ‘vibes’ encompass a landscape of sunshine infused dream pop that could only be the product of traveling around making music with the one you love. After setting the bar high with the release of their debut EP last year, husband and wife duo Kim and Jarod Weldin have now put the final touches to their debut album Let You Go, which is set for release on 28 July on Bleeding Gold Records.

Ahead of the album’s release, we are very excited to premiere the album track ‘Looking Around’, which sits towards the end of the record in all its woozy summertime glory. It’s the musical equivalent of Best Coast hanging out with Slowdive under a palm tree, watching the water lapping at their feet.

Tape Waves create the kind of music made for…

Interview: Furrow

Posted in Band Update, Music with tags , , , , on July 6, 2014 by bleedinggold

James from Killer Ponytail had a chat with FURROW…

Killer Ponytail

Furrow_2Furrow are two guys from a small village called West Felton just on the English/Welsh border. But don’t let their bucolic background fool you. Furrow create gnarly, super lo-fi noise pop capable of reigniting any flagging house party. Between Richard Cartwright’s pounding rhythms and Thom Snell’s shredded bass sound, Furrow also manage to infuse their songs with plenty of melodic verve and enough catchy hooks to give the likes of No Age a run for their money. We caught up with Rich and Thom to talk about playing in caravans, forging new comedy musical genres and their forthcoming album.

How did you guys first start making music together?

Thom: We come from this little place called West Felton, and we both ended up back there after university. We were hanging around, looking for jobs and listening to lots of No Age.

Rich: Yeah, we were thinking about what No Age were doing and…

Aunt Sis

Posted in Band Update, Music with tags , , , , , on June 11, 2014 by bleedinggold

Aunt Sis started as the bedroom recording project of Justin Morris, utilizing live vocal looping and melodic guitar progressions to imply something larger. Based in Asheville, North Carolina, Aunt Sis now continues this aesthetic as an amplified three piece, with fellow Bleeding Gold members Will Flaugher of Petey, and Justin Hrabovsky of The Sweets. Below you will find a new song from the band in preparation for a full EP later this year.

Space Heat’s dreamy take on indie (night)pop is filled with way-old honey and smoke and things you forgot that you forgot until you remembered them. Feelings not all that then, and not all that now… This is not what you listen to sprawled out on the beach, bathed in sun and salt. This is what you listen to driving past the endlessly black shape of the ocean in the night, down some nameless freeway toward something new. What you listen to to keep warm.
