Listen: Tape Waves – ‘Standing In Line’
You know summer has truly arrived when Charleston’s Tape Waves release a new record.
Not only does the duo’s sonic aesthetic conjure up the essence of a beach breeze, but their sound also seems to encapsulate an emotional longing with which it’s nearly impossible not to relate.
The band’s second album, Here To Fade is slated for release on 29 July via Bleeding Gold Records, and the latest cut ‘Standing In Line’ is the perfect introduction to Tape Waves’ approach to soulful dream pop.
The track rushes in with echo chamber guitars interweaving an intoxicating melody before Kim Hart Weldin’s vocals rise like a plush hit of summer air.
But the song’s summery disposition belies a knowingly sombre subject matter. The band say this of the track:
