**Track 2 on side A has a few weird clicks in one 20 second break. It’s actually quite rhythmic, but it’s not supposed to be there! This is a limited run of 100 and we did not get tests, cuz that’s how we roll at this lo-fi establishment, so that’s how it is and that’s that!! Don’t try to send it back because I told you about it already, punk!**

Brand new full-length from France’s premiere band of weirdos…OS DRONGOS!! 12-tracks of surfy-garage amazement. This one is bound to be a Bleeding Gold classic!

Listen: Lost Trail – ‘All Saints’ Eve In Other Burlington’

A little something about the upcoming Lost Trail 12″, due out Friday September 4th…

Killer Ponytail

Lost-TrailLet’s face it, sometimes it can be all too easy to miss the history around you. If you’re walking through your home town or visiting somewhere entirely new, the subtle elements of past voices are capable of being heard, if only you listen hard enough. This is a thought that clearly hasn’t escaped North Carolina duo Lost Trail.

The duo, consisting of matrimonially entwined Zach and Denny Corsa, specialise in using analogue equipment, tape loops and found sounds to create their music, and the results are less like songs and more like expansive sonic tales.

The band’s forthcoming 12” is called A Foreground And A Backdrop (set for release on 4th September on Bleeding Gold Records) and the very title suggests the fact that Lost Trail are capable of seeing the world around them in multi-dimensional ways. Something that more than bares out in their new track ‘All Saints’…

Listen: Roman Lakes – ‘The Sparrow’

Some nice words on the new Roman Lakes….

Killer Ponytail

roman lakes the sparrowWhat do think of when you think of Manchester? The big, baggy beats of the likes of Happy Mondays and the heady indie dance of the Hacienda club, right? Well, prepare to cast those stereotypes aside because Manchester’s Roman Lakes has something entirely more serene to offer.

Roman Lakes, aka Ben Hyman, serves as a counter to the swaggering lad-orientated rock made famous by the north of England and delivers a more cerebral take on the world using nothing more than his voice and a well worn guitalele (that’s a cross between a guitar and a ukulele by the way).

Hyman’s new track ‘The Sparrow’ (released on the ever dependable Bleeding Gold Records) showcases his knack for creating a gloriously bouncing melody that can’t help but echo the heyday of the 70s British folk scene, and his vocals take on the straight forward narrative delivery of the likes of The Tallest Man On…

Apache Viking were hatched circa 2009 from members of Newcastle based band Free Diamonds (signed to Deep Elm records in the US), US act Foresake Ya to the Snakes, and the famed Newcastle country band The Devitos.

This unlikely coalition is a jigsaw of pop punk, cartoon lyricism, Russian polka and mid 50’s lo-fi. Instantly Apache Viking were quoted as the best band in Newcastle upon Tyne and ones to watch by BBC 6 music (who have dedicated airplay on many occasions).

Spring I’m In launches opportunely enough at the cusp of the season, but the recording process originally had Alligator Indian beginning work in their mountain retreat, the Rainbow Reservation, shortly after the summer release of their Football EP with Bleeding Gold. The resultant sound files came across like a worn out copy of Simon Reynold’s post-punk opus Rip It Up and Start Again dropped in a vat of lysergic acid diethylamide, if they may be so bold. And if’n they mayn’t, let’s just say it’s pretty not so bad. The aural constructs begin with a blistering sci-fi tale of a world where tyrannical governments mandate who a citizen can become betrothed to. From there, themes and sounds shift between fuzzy post-pop, a cappella bursts of vocals, and industrial cries for contentment.

Available on ‘CosmicPurple’ or Classic Black vinyl and CASSETTE here.
